Professional Associations
There are several
professional associations that govern Horticultural in North America.
The American
Horticultural Therapy Association, AHTA and the
Canadian
Horticultural Therapy, CHTA both perform many important
functions.
They serve as providers
of information, support, and resources, they publish newsletters and
organize workshops, conferences and courses. The AHTA in particular
focuses significant effort into research and annually publishes “The
Journal for Therapeutic Horticulture.” Most importantly, the AHTA and
the CHTA professionally register the growing number of Horticulture
Therapists in order to create a peer-reviewed system that promotes
professionalism as Horticultural therapy gains recognition across the
continent.
